Festool Household Companion (2016)

The brief required us to design a Festool cordless drill/driver for household D.I.Y. use. Focus was placed on ergonomics, innovation, and user-centred design.
Research was done on Festool's brand identity and the technology they've developed, as well as precedent research into other brands and their cordless drills.
This project focused on user-centred design, with three users being a part of the entire design process. After each phase of conceptualising, users gave feedback, and this feedback was used in refining the design.
Two personas were created based on the three users and the brand -  and these would be the inspiration and a guide for the design of the tool.
Initial concepts and models were made, then taken to the users to receive feedback.
User feedback phase 1.
Refinement occured with the users input in mind, and the finalisation of the concept was taken to the users once more, with specific focus on button details, shape, size, and overall aesthetic.
User feedback phase 2.
